Not a huge fan of Parks, and I hope Jackson can do the business (is he not out injured at the minute!?), but a bit harsh Niall...... aye he's limited, but his boot has won a fair few games recently, MOM against Gloucester, I wouldn't be so keen to see him go so quickly.
Not international class, but could still do a job at Glasgow. Does anyone know if Jackson is fit, and if not who would play in the meantime?

but the problem is that when Parks is in the team all the points come from him because the team has no invention with him at 10. Against Gloucester he gifted them 8 of their 11 points and instead of allowing glasgow to go for the bonus point, he kicks another penalty.morgan wrote: aye he's limited, but his boot has won a fair few games recently, MOM against Gloucester, I wouldn't be so keen to see him go so quickly.
Take, for example, the game down at Bath last season, Jackson starts at 10, plays the ball through the midfield, Glasgow score 5 tries! Or earlier in the season with the Connacht game, Glasgow should've pummeled them, but didn't because the ball rarely went past 10.

That is true Niall. Glasgow have some talented runners outside that dont get used enough by Parks. Whether he stays or not I hope as soon as Jackson's fit he gets back in the squad and gets genuine game time - as you say when he has played, the backs have really performed........ and he also doesn't have Parks sliced kick every second game ha ha. I just hope as Roddy says its the end of the season before he leaves so were not left a bit short in the meantime.

yeh, how many times do you see a team win 33-11 in the HC and they don't get a bonus point. I was shocked to see that. He's just far too limited a player to be the play maker at one of Scotland's 2 pro teams, you really need a guy in there with lots more invention and who sparks the attack.
That said, they'll best be on the look out for someone in Prem 1 or the SIS to offer a contract to (as back-up to Jackson), because Glasgow don't have the resources to sign a stand off of any proven pro-level calibre.

I bet the young bloke at hawks has been lined up already and quite right too. We wait too long in Scotland before giving these guys a go at the highest level. Apart from O'gara and Jones you'll find that most of the stand off's playing HC are under 25 and have been for a few seasons at least. Ireland, France and Wales have at least three guys capable of playing 10 at the highest level, Scotland don't have one at the moment and I include Godman in that last statement. Look at the state of England. Stand off is key.
Parks should have punted 5 years ago. Can anyone say that Glasgow have improved during his time there? Ask the DO's why attendances are down at Glasgow home games. The rugby being played isn't attractive.

The young guy at Hawks would be Duncan Weir well known to Rossi and Co and worth a go according to the Scotland backs coach.

Duncan Weir is certainly highly rated and has looked like he definately has the potential to perform at a very high level. If Glasgow pick someone out from the amateur game, this is the guy that stands out as the man who has the potential to do it.
Totaly agree with you Mafie - even look at the age of some guys playing in the Tri Nations - theres 18/19/20 year olds getting chucked in. If they are thought to be good enough and can physically handle test rugby, get them in there and let them develop that talent. Our guys are making their debut at ages some guys down under have 2 years test match experience.

From the Scotsman
"However, with a plethora of stand-off talent bunching up within the SRU academy system and struggling to find game-time, pressure has grown on Glasgow and Edinburgh to find opportunities for the likes of Rory Hutton, Ruaridh Jackson, Alex Blair, Matthew Scott and Duncan Weir."
No chance of them trying to push the Edinburgh lads ???
