Scotland six Nations 2010 squad announced
it does seem strange, but I suppose it's his view on how he demonstrates his faith. here's a quote from the Daily Record:
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/rugb ... -21913270/Glasgow-born Euan turned to religion while recovering from an injury in 2005 and since then his faith has grown stronger.
While insisting he will continue to give his all for club and country, Euan - a qualified vet - said his faith comes first.
He added: "I've talked about the 'call to excellence' I perceive in the bible, being the best you can be and I try to present myself as a living sacrifice to the Lord.
"I want to excel in rugby because that's where I've been given the opportunity to serve my God - but it has to fit with the way I want to live my life.
"The most important thing in my life will always be serving Christ.
"I want to live my life believing and doing the things he wants and the Sabbath day is a full day.
"It's not a case of a couple of hours in church then playing rugby or going down the pub, it's the full day.

I was thinking more of the best team to go on the park rather than for the specific game. Maybe he should read Jonathan Edward's (triple jumper) story. He also would not compete on a Sunday but decided that God must have given him his talent for a reason and would expect him to use it. However, in situations like this, you have to respect his decision !
Sabbath observance is a very interesting one. Michael Jones, All Black Flanker, never went to the 1995 world cup due to NZ's QF and SF games being likely to be played on Sundays. I think Murray might be of the same view come the next world cup, so Scotland are going to have to think seriously about how we deal with the issue.
Maybe the SRU should give Jonathan Edwards a few quid to go speak to Euan.

I'll trade exciting for Scottish victory.
I'm not a fan of Parks, but neither Godman nor Patterson could do anything to threaten the French. We do need to settle on someone at 10 soon and decide that they're the man. Tinkering every other game isn't going to help us to move fwd.

What would your solution be Drew, who would you play infront of Parks?
Godman is rotten at the minute. Paterson clearly is not an international stand-off. Suggestions of Southwell that have been wrote on other forums is a laugh......
Yes Parks kicks it all the time, but at least maybe he will be able able to kick us into a decent position to get some points, maybe even a cheeky wee forwards try if they can pull the finger out.
If that was a running stand-off it doesn't say much about the backs outside him who failed to come close to scoring on Sunday, our any of the last few tests against anyone decent for that matter.
This of course is only in my opinion, I'm sure plenty of people will disagree. Lets just hope Scotland can win.
PS before anyone asks yes Jackson could be the man in the future, but he has to play more top class games for Glasgow first.

Got 2 agree with Morgan Drew. Think Parks is our only option and I would ave selected him on Sun and for this Sat. Would u not settle 4 a win rather than attractive rugby and a loss. Thats exactly wot the Aussie win woz. Also the stat I remember from Sat was France 51% and Scotland 49% Possession. However if I remember rite it was territory - France 83%, Scotland 17%. That says it all. I agree with u Drew that Scotland wont score a lot of tries but Parks gives us the best opportunity 2 do so as he can put us in the rite areas.
The route of all our difficulties is in the pro structure. We need another team. We tried to mirror what Ireland do and we've done not too bad at it. However, with only 2 pro teams we're always going to struggle. Ireland have 3 top sides and a development team & Wales have 4 good sides, poss with the Dragons getting labelled as a development team.
In Wales there's competition at 10, with Biggar (ospreys) pushing Jones (scarlets) and room to develop others at the other 2 pro teams. Ireland is similar with Sexton, O'Gara, etc. But up here we have nowhere to really let young guys grow into seasoned pros.
We have 2 guys with lots of potential in Jackson (Gla) and Hutton (Edi) that get very little game time because we have to play the best boys in Parks & Godman.
If we had another team there'd be a lot more opportunities to develop guys and take risks with top youngsters in all positions. Our stand off crisis is a problem now, but as we saw on Sunday with Murray's absense, in all the specialist positions (bar scrum half) we don't have much depth to choose from.
