Can't believe they are not trying out young guys like Cairns. They really have nothing to loose as the championship has been a mess upto the England game which was just gritty with no flair. Give young guys a go. Southwell is trash and Cairns keeps him out of the Edinbrgh team every week. Get the boy Evans in as well as he is rapid and might cause a threat. Time to take some risks I say!

I think scotland can do well in Rome, but they'll need to win the forward battle 1st and then allow the backs to attack on the front foot. I'd like to see a lot less pick and drive with the exception of when we're within 5m of the try line.

We need to put lots of pressure on Masi at Stand Off because he isn't really of international quality and has made quite a few poor touch finds in the other games. With that in mind I think we may see a charged down try in this match.

If Blair can play as well as he did last weekend, off of slightly quicker ball then it could be a long afternoon for the Italians.

Bad News im afraid guys as Dan Parks now starts for Scotland and Paterson is moved to the Wing.

Backwards Step in my opinion.

indeed,

but at least this subs bench is a bit more "sensible" with a scrum half and someone-who-isn't-a-fly-half, not that its needed now with Parks at 10...

Niall,
DEF*~#+&*^lighted!!!!
Can you believe him! Just when he's got an opportunity to redeem himself to a degree and keep momentum from the Calcutta game he does that!!
At least Walker is out! But when will we see the likes of Cairns, or either of the Evans...not likely with Frank still making some really perplexing decisions.

Strainer Scores

Post by spike » Sat Mar 15, 2008 11:21 am

Gary Strain scored a try n Scotland U20 injury time defeat in Italy yesterday. Scotland were ahead and gave a away a penalty a long way out in injury time. THe buggers converted it. Simmo also played in the game, adding more caps to the Dalziel boys. Well done lads, we are proud of you.

OK - lets get this right here. you pick the steady-percentage stand off and send him out to throw the ball around like he's playin 7s.

I always tend to lean towards the team's performance and don't like to blame individuals, but Parks was at fault for the 2 Italian tries and cost us the game. Firstly he threw a speculative pass which was hacked on and eventually led to the scots conceding the penalty try from the scrum. And Just when we needed him to be a steadying influence at the start of the 2nd half he throws a looping pass for Parisse to intercept and the italians to score from.

This is why I hate watching Scotland - we could have played Henderson from the start and had Webster on the wing. This would have given us an attacking stand off in Paterson and left Parks on the bench, perhaps to come on with 15 mins to go and close out the game, but Parks started and tried to play a game that isn't natural to him and we got caught out.

Get rid off: Hadden, Parks, Henderson, Walker and Southwell just to start.
Hadden must have watched a different game from me if he thinks we played well. Utter mince.
