so he's going to gamble on paterson and strokosch.
i think that's probably a good move considering the way parks played in the last 2 games.
strokosch's selection will be much more influential on the outcome of the match. it's not going to be easy, but win lose or draw i think we'll be able to play some exciting rugby with our dangerous backs in the line-up.

Well I do remember Webster stepping inside a number of Australians to score an incredible try a few years back during the Autumn Internationals. Aside from that I've not saw much of his cutting edge, but he'll be a lot more potent than De Luca if he can hold onto a pass or 2.RodHar wrote:Eddie which dangerous backs do you mean? Walker!, Henderson!. Maybe Webster!, Southwell!, only real dangerous backs are Paterson, Lamont and Blair.
Paterson is someone that can worry the Irish and make a wee bit of room and time for the outside backs if he gets a chance.
Lamont is a try scorer and we certainly need one of them.
For me Blair needs to do more and bring the forwards into the game hitting the gainline at pace, the forwards doing pick and drive until you get turned over stuff is very easy to defend against. He might be more inclined to break with boys like paterson and lamont around who can provide the support and continuity play that's required to convert once you're behind the opposition.

I think its a bold selection and the right changes have been made, apart from Southwell. I would have kept DeLuca there and put Lamont at Fullback with Webster on wing. Parks had to go. No threat from him.
But he obviously thinks that southwell is better equiped to kick back at Ireland though, as O'Gara will try to pin us back. Lamont may struggle in that dept.
I say just go for it, throw the ball around. Give us something decent to watch and try and build a team.

Life is too short is it? Life is the longest thing you will ever do!!
Barclay is out due to someone sitting on his hand (i'll try to get more details on this!), Hogg and Brown to start, and Ross Rennie on to the bench. Looking like a strong back row (possibly the strongest we've put out this year).

lost 17-12, another first half let-down (seems to be a recurring theme for the 20s!)

I read that niall yeah, dissapointing to lose such a close tie, but they seem to be competing really well due to the close score, so showing improvement from the france game.
Also the club international side lost narrowly to their irish counterparts, 20-15. Again good effort but dissapointing to lose a closely contested game. Again i think by the sounds of it the irish had a flying first half, with the scots coming back in the second half.
Scottish Uni's got pummeled by Irish Colleges, 45-8. I aint at uni anymore but still recognise most of the names, and i cant believe there was only one player each from Strathclyde and Glasgow. Not gonna say east coast bias, but the structure makes it ten times harder from a student from the west to make an impact. Any ideas how you get to edinburgh, dundee, or st andrews for training at 9.30 AM on a sunday via public transport? Oh yeh, u cant. Not many have an old man like mine who'll get out their scratcher for a wee sunday drive....
The Woman lost 13-3 as well.
To end on a plus note, Scotland A managed somehow to destroy Ireland A, 67-7. Looks like some boys really stepped up to the mark.
