Yup, anywhere where there's no real competition for places players tend to begin to believe their own hype and when that's in a team that have won nothing you've got problems.

The English clubs like Newcastle and others who never get Heinken Cup Rugby must get quite frustrated watching the way the Scots make a balls of it every season. I mean when's the last time we managed to make the knock out stages?

Edinburgh got to the quarter finals in 2003/04, when they got out of a group containing Toulouse, Leeds and Ospreys. Then they played Toulouse in the Quarter Finals and lost there.

so in over 10 years of competition a scottish team have only made the knockout stages once - terrible underachievement from a supposedly top tier rugby nation.

Looks like Glasgow now have a make-or-break game at Fir Hill on Friday night. Anyone up for a wee jaunt into Fir Hill, should be a good game. Tickets are £15 for adults, and £5 for concessions (Students, U-16 and OAPs).

Glasgow should win, but with the bonus point they need, who knows!

By my calculations Glasgow only need to win - that would take them to 19 points and out of the reach of Biaritz. No bonus point required, just the win. Of course if they beat Sarries with a bonus they could top the pool and get a seeding which would be even better!

anyone know how they seperate the teams if they're tied on 20 points, if it's points difference then realistically Sarries have already won the pool.

Unfortunately its not as simple.

Since Glasgow didn't get the bonus point against Viadana they have to beat Saracens by more than 8 points (and get the try bonus). If the teams are tied on 20 points it goes down to points attained in the games between the two teams, so currently Glasgow have 1 and Saracens 5. Glasgow win it with the bonus point it goes to 6 points to 5 and win the group. If Saracens get the try bonus or the losers bonus it goes to tries scored in the head to heads. Currently it is 4 tries to 3 in favour of Saracens. If that's level, then Glasgow have to win by more than 2 points to finish top of the group.

Miss any of those criteria or Saracen's get two bonus points then they can't win the group!

If they get to 19 or 20 points then Glasgow can still go through as one of two best runners-up. For this to happen they need London Irish, Perpignan, Gloucester or The Ospreys to lose (with out bonus points).

Tall order!
