8 players in the squad, that must be a record. Well done to all players and coaches.

I am sure that some old Midi coaches have had teams with more than this in the squad :) :)

Any examples out there :?:

there was 15 or so of us in the Lanarkshire U15 squad in 1997!

admittedly, there were 10 or so hamilton players and 1 EK boy and it was the first squad at that level!

can't remember who was all in it, Lovey, Burger, Adams and myself were in it i think. We only played a couple of games as warm up before Glasgow Heineken cup games at Scotstoun. As i said, it was the first squad at that level for lanarkshire and as such it really was just "picked" from Dalziel and Hamilton.

Ross/John/Stevie,
Have provided the following not because of numbers, (although interesting) but more on the basis of advocating involvement in District representation and Thistles / Perpignan development opportunities.

Digging out some old stuff and to the best of my memory, I think the following is as best a guide I could get: NB Bold equals still playing, underlined equals Perpignan or Thistles selectees. I hope I’ve not missed anyone out …please let me know if I have and I’ll correct any mistakes.

Lanarkshire Lions:
Harris, Goodman, McGarrity, Mitchell, Donnachie, Watters, Miller, Price, Mullen, Smith Mark, Smith Gav, McLelland, Maxwell, Kennedy.

Of these the following went on to become;

Chiefs:
Harris, Goodman, McGarrity, Mitchell, Donnachie, Watters, Price, Mullen, Smith Gav, McLelland, Maxwell.

Of these 4 were selected to play for the firsts at the tender age of 16/17!

From this age group some were unlucky not to be selected for district, but are still playing:
Lee McWhinnie, Scott Murphy, Robert Johnstone, Fraser McGlashan, Davie Stewart, Darren Hay, Chris Howieson?

Lanarkshire Lions:
Harris, Strain (Hawks), Simmonds, Goldie, Aitken, Ainsworth, Begley, Cummings (Biggar?), McCartin, Carling, Hunter, Porter, Ferguson, Gilchrist.

Of these the following went on to become;

Chiefs:
Harris, Strain, Simmonds, Goldie, Aitken, Ainsworth, Gilchrist, McCartin, Carling, Begley, Porter, Hunter

Still playing from this age group:
Mekel, Gilchrist

On the evidence of the Festival Dalziel have got some more excellent talent coming through and similarly getting the opportunity to further develop their skills in district /Perpignan selection....well done.
