Tally's Resigned! :(

Post by teenwolf » Mon Dec 03, 2007 11:23 am

Due to work commitments Tally has had to give up the Head Coach role and we now need a new coach.

I think Tally has done a great job and has brought a lot of fresh thinking to the way we prepare for matches and this has had a positive effect on the team. With the exception of a few poor performances recently the team have played well.

Unfortunately, the new coach will have to come in at a time when the 1st XV are struggling with some poor results and with injuries over the last month and it is going to be a challenge to get the players to pull out the finger and get back to winning ways. Another injury headache came in the second half of Saturdays game with Barry Turnbull hurting his knee and hobbling off for what looks to be a lengthy lay-off.

However, there are some reasons to be cheerful - the farsighted inclusion of 17 yr old Gavin "Gee" Armstrong at flanker on saturday afternoon shows that there is great talent coming through and proves the old adage that if you're good enough you're old enough. Heid put in another top drawer performance being named DL man of the match and Andy Hill returned to the 10 jersey and had a solid game setting the platform for much of what DL did well. IMO the 13-20 scoreline glosses over the fact that DL had 3 or 4 good opportunites to draw even or go on to win the match. There were 2 disallowed tries, the 1st where Chubby Lewis was said to have bumped into a team mate thus commiting an accidental offside, and the 2nd where a DL player was deemed to have been held up over the line.

The new coach, whoever they are is going to need as many of the players from the club at training as possible and I'm pretty sure it'll be a clean slate in terms of selection so everyone will be judged on their merits. I know it's December, but if we are to make something of the season we need more numbers training and people genuinely challenging for places.

Well said "teen"wolf.

Even their touch judge said Chubby's try was ok - he had to turn back from running behind the posts when the referee made his mind up!

Good luck and best wishes to Tally.

Yup the chubmeister certainly scored, but that shouldn't have been the deciding factor.

Totally agree with every point. I won't be playing now until after the new year but will still be hanging around like a bad smell and will be at all the games guys. Lets get stuck in!!
