Season End

Post by Wee Davie » Mon May 09, 2011 7:51 pm

Well that's it for another year and as a whole Dalziel have faired well under 15's again winning a trophy with the 7s to add to the cup they have won earlier. The 1s have stabilised and will look on this year as a steep learning curve but will push on for next year. 2s have had another good year and moved up on the finish last year and are 4th and again will look to press for next year. The under 18s have had a good year and have played some of the big names who have asked to come and play us this must bode well for next year and the strengh in depth will add to the seniors for next year.
The 3s have again secured promotion and won thier league which is a remarkable achievement when you look at the genuine 2ndxv that they have played against this year the boy's will have to look at next year and the fact that there will be extra effort required to make sure that we can continue to put pressure on the 1st and 2nds. The mini section continue to provide rugby for the youngsters every Saturday morning and the senior club can help by going and helping with coaching this is an area that we should explore for next season.
Hopefully next season we will get our 4thxv out on a regular basis the games this year have been hampered by the length of the injury list we have had to cope with but we can and will try and make sure that Dalziel are one of the few clubs that can field 4 senior xvs and an under 18s.
You can't look back at a season and not thank the people who have refereed all the games this year, the guy's putting up the fence for 1st xv match day's Jan and Carol selling the programme and not mention our Catering and Bar staff Les ,Tom,Jean,Susan Tam McCartin, Willie Aitken and Katie who with a smile over charges everyone including her dad.
With out everyone doing there bit we are not a club lets build on this and make sure we can be North Lanarkshire's premier team for the forseeable future.
