I think that you're mistaking a bit of chat about the cup as distractedness. Everyone is still up for getting torn into the remaining league fixtures, but we're just having some chat about what else is on the horizon. 8)

Lets just go and spoil Greenock's party as they are meant to be having some lunch thing before our game to open their new clubhouse.

Anyone up for spoiling it all for them?

Millbrae beat Lanark at the weekend to set up a third round tie with Newton Stewart.

Our biggest problem is that Millbrae are Ayr's "Development" team, so if the main club doesn't have a game, I can see Ayr pumping Millbrae full of Premier 1 Players (which is something they tried a few years back when they had a league decider against us in the 3rd XV league)!

Ties in Red are Loser progresses to bowl

thats a bit easier to read! I'm assuming that the teams thrown out the cup are out of all competitions which is why there are only 3 ties in the east region.

Is this fixture likely to go ahead at the weekend?

Cup

Post by khalidf » Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:01 pm

It would be interesting to find out when the Bowl moves from regional to national.

Basically beating Millbrae would mean we are in last 16 and and only 3 wins away from Murrayfield and only Preston Lodge and Hillfoots in our division as the better teams!!

Looks like Preston Lodge threw their game against Ross High a team in East 1 (so at least 4 divisions below them)

I thought this aswell, given that the next round will have 16 teams in it, i would assume that round 2 will be national (Thank goodness H/A put out orkney...)

Ross High have a lot of players back though as they all left them to got to Preston Lodge etc for cash, then they were all convinced to go back. Mind the big heavy guy who spoke at the austin a few years ago and called the Haka a car parking dance when big Paul did it for us all, well he is their president and has got them all back playing so Hillfoots may not have thrown that game.

We can go all the way now though guys!

You mean Preston Lodge aye?

Let's hope it stays regional for as long as possible so we have more chance of drawing the smaller teams.

Still a good draw though. Their only one division below us so will be at a decent level, but i remember we got them down there in the cup last year as well.

I played that game last year and they weren't up to much, win was quite comfortable. all they done was hit up around the ruck all game, big farmer boys. even their ten crashed up.

Hopefully due to their league position currently thats still all they will have to offer.

Make that two years ago i think. But still, league wise their in the same nick so i dont seem them having much else. short of them paying players i dont think many people relocate to stewartry, bar the odd farm labourer.
