Website features request

I've got a week free now to upgrade (and fix) the website. What sort of features would people like? Some things i would like to see included are:
  • Calender module - tie together Fixtures, Events and News items and allow general calender events.
  • Advertising - Allow adverts to be placed on the site and administered from the admin panel. Adverts can be placed for a certain period of time or a number of button clicks.
  • Fixtures - Expand this module to work with the calender allowing non-club games to be put in.
  • Downloads section - Items may be uploaded and restrictions placed on who can access the files.
  • Custom theming - allow users to specify their colour schemes and font sizes. Improves accessibility for all.
  • Mobile site - improve the layout on mobile phones.
  • Facebook/bebo applications - allow Facebook/bebo users to have a box on their profiles showing the next and previous Dalziel games as well as other information.
  • Content Submission - Allow people to submit news articles/teams sheets etc for review by and admin before posting
Also, I need to improve:
  • Team postings - Allow teams to be posted as 1-15 instead of alphabetically
  • Age Groupings - Removes players not eligible for a team from squad lists by specifying age ranges, this removes clutter and helps with the previous point.
  • Module administration - try to separate out the modules so modules can be disabled without effecting other modules.
  • News Postings - add poster name.
  • Statistics module - Enable search by player, competition, team, opponent and dates.
  • One user log-in - saves you having multiple log-ins for site/forum/gallery. This will also allow me to assign a squad profile to your forum account.
Thats the sort of things i'm looking at, but does anyone else have any ideas for what they would like on the site?

Like these ideas. Especially the idea around a mobile site having just bought an ipod touch.

I think the site could have a bit more visual content - you know images, etc as part of reports and not just a seperate gallery.

In terms of downloads, could we have video available. I can see there are lots of competitive reasons to keep the videos of matches to ourselves meaning we shouldnt put them on youtube, but files for download to club members might be pretty good. prob not full games though, so there's a job there for someone doing a bit of video editing.

Me too, though I was meaning more for the mobiles that have a very limited screen and limited connection.

Yeh, there will be an uploader added in that will allow images to be added. I also need to implement some sort of BBcode for the main site, as you need to use html and its not exactly user friendly.

I'm led to believe this has been discussed at the committee a few times. We need someone to take responsibility to record the games and then edit it (if anyone knows of someone who can, speak to Gordon!). I would love for video to be on here, but it does take some devotion from someone!

would it be possible to either automatically show the postings in reverse date order, showing the original post at the top followed by the posts in recent time order ? or a button to allow you to choose this.

cheers.

I'll look into that. I've not spent that much time looking at the forum code to do that quickly, but it might already be something that someone else has done and has but on the add-on database on www.phpbb.com
