The Dalziel team that beat the Academy had 7 former Academy players/pupils in it Niall, Me - Dj - Yogi - Hissy - George - John - Paton, and cheetah was at Larkhall Academy when Mr McLatchie(Sir) was teacher. Great game to play in too (as WE won)

thanks sumo, the winger (marked as AN Other) was a former Bellshill boy too, but I can't for the life of me remember his name!

Not had chance to update in a while but will get on it soon. Have added team list from 3rdXV game at Dumfries with possibly the biggest back line out , all forwards have a look . Sumo , Willie W centre , Hiddy and rab Brown wings with ayouthfull Gordie Muir at FB. Not sure scorers if anyone knows if they scored that day then let me know. Sumo thinks Roddy T was in back row but not sure. Thanks Sumo for digging through your mind to find this gem.

great game. I was playing stand off and there was a tremendous fight that involved everybody in the backs punching the dumfries centre; including rab brown who by the time he had ran to the fight it had stopped but he hit the guy anyway after running such a long distance.

the centre in question got told to go off n calm down, started mouthing off fae side line and was told in no uncertain terms he was gonna get it when he came back on by Big Ron, the centre then about turned and run to the dressing room and was never seen again........Big Ron Broon at his finest

Hey Guys , have put up results for years Dalziel got promotion. 73/74 Div 5 West Undefeated P13 W 13 , also a Cup game v Ayr who were 3 Divisions above and only lost narrowly 10-0. 80/81 Div 4 P11 W 10 . 87/88 Div 2 P 13 W 10 Promoted to Division 2 , 1stXV played 8 games in a month March / April . Glasgow Cup / Lanarkshire Cup / River Series Trophy. Beating Stirling County(Div2 ) , Kilmarnock ( Div 1) , Hillhead (Div 2) , Beating Clarkston in Glasgow Cup Final. Before running out of steam and losing to Heroits (Div 1 ) and East Kilbride all midweek games tues /thurs and winning Haddington and Lanarkshire 7's at the weekends. Some going. So in the 6 seasons where we were promoted (inc 09/10 & 02/03) we only lost 6 games & drawn 2 out of 77 games. So have a look and if anyone knows if they played in any of these games let me know so can add. Cheers Go Dalziel.

Guys found this, Herald 6 Oct 1924 , first mention of Dalziel I have found. Match Report. Dalziel 7 2nd Craigielea Nil . At Motherwell in good weather. Play was very evenly contested in first portion & the teams crossed over with a clean sheet. In the 2nd half however the home lot asserted themselves & I.Henderson scored a drop goal. This success was followed up with a try from B.Henderson & a keen & evenly contested tussle ended in victory for Dalziel by 7 points to nil. Wonder if these Hendersons are realated to Stewart and Scott who played for us in 80 /90's.

anyone else that has games they remember playing/scoring in, post here and we'll update the records! Think Cammy and I have done most of our own games and a lot of what Info Cammy has come across (the herald archive is pretty cool!) so now it's time to add more!
