Hey Guys , Have updated match reports for seasons 1924/25 & 25/26. Only have 2 games for inaugural season , not first game match report , know its in Wishaw Press so will have to look that up. Noticed that have a 2ndXV game just a year after Club started Jan 25. Second season 24/25 P 12 W9 L3 not bad going , hope to find more. Season 25/26 P12 W 6 L6 In first 3 years we had used 60 odd players , so it looks like that even from start of club we had a thriving playing pool. These are players that paved the way for us to play now - we were a junior club playing a lot of 2nd and 3rd XVs. These guys persevered and club went from strength to strength , just as times are hard now .....keep at it and things will get better. Have a look at our great clubs history. Go Dalziel.

Guys not been to Heritage Centre for a while BUT doesn't mean not been updating archive. Look at 1970's Brian Robertson scoring 33 tries for 1stXV in 33 games , 7 players in same district team , winning Glasgow District League and the next year winning Division 5 West undefeated. Dick McLatchie getting selected for Scotland Junior , not found game yet or score. Jim Paterson think have found HMS Neptune game where effeminate ref , used a Kazoo as whistle ( younger guys ask parents what that is) though not actual date yet. All this is thanks to George Barr , Brian Robertson , Dick McLatchie , Winker , Kenny Stewart for fixture cards , have most from 1960 onwards - don't have 2010/11 onwards so get looking and pass them on. Any old programmes , clippings etc are welcome . Looking to get a permanent place in club for them for all to see. Any anecdotes from playing days please email me and will try gto get memories up with actual games. Have a look at our heritage/history. GO DALZIEL

Had a quick spell at Heritage Centre , and lying out was Motherwell Times for 1946. So started there. Rugby didn't start back at Dalziel after WW2. Season 1945 -46 no games but Sam Barnard , Fullback Back played for FP's Football team. He was later a Patron of Club up until 1990's. First game after 7 and half years

Had a quick spell at Heritage Centre , and lying out was Motherwell Times for 1946. So started there. Rugby didn't start back at Dalziel after WW2 until Season 1946 -47 . Season 1945 -46 no games but Sam Barnard , Fullback Back played for FP's Football team. He was later a Patron of Club up until 1990's. First game after 7 and half years , spring 1939. This was a bit of a false start , game previous week cancelled at last minute , so Davie J - club had these problems all those years ago too. Also Peter Cowan , ? Fixture Secretary was looking for 2ndXV fixtures for us after club had started up again , so looks like numbers bounced back rather quickly. Harry Morton Snr was a big factor in resurrecting club at this time - he was Captain in 1936 - 37 , he played this year at scrum half and wing , getting a score v Barr and Stroud. Have results for Plyd 14 Won 10 Lost 4 so not a bad season. Looks like we had a rivalry with Hamilton even way back then , look at practice match report for 29th March " Let Battle Commence"
The next year wasn't as successful , have so far P 12 W 1 D 1 L 10 , only got reports from Motherwell Times for 1947. Have a look at photo gallery to see match reports and previews , also interestingly to FP members is letter about forming Memorial Trust Fund which would eventually lead to having the great facilities we have at present. We rose from ashes of WW2 and with these players laying the groundwork for the great club we have now. Have alook at our History .
Onwards and Upwards Go Dalziel

Guys have updated more years in 40's. 1947 - 48 not much reporting in Motherwell Times , have so far P 13 W2 L10 D1 48/49 not a great year for results either P19 W 6 L 9 D 3 with one game abandoned due to injuries. Club had used nearly 50 players in these 3 years since rugby started again at Dalziel. Club had started playing at Carfin Hall but moved to Cleland Estate. have listed games for harry Morton and Jimmy Dick both Past Presidents of Club. Jimmy just recently passing last year. Club was affected by national service taking younger players and this held up getting a 2ndXv out but had done so by 49/50 with 11 games listed and have 7 results at present. have a look at players Iain Greig who later moved to Canada and in season 62 took part in Canadian International Trial but was injured. he also played for London Scottish and RAF before emigrating . Norman Donaldson also emigrated and with Ian both played for Ontario district and Eastern Canada against touring British Lions of 1959. Both are members of Ontario Rugby's Hall of Fame. Click on their names in squad profiles. will keep updating and letting you know of clubs progress after WW2 and into 50's and 60's when such luminaries as Willie Miller became captain at 19 years old. So have a look at our history. Go Dalziel

Hey Guys , Have been slowly updating site. Got info from early 50's to 64/65. Slowly putting stuff up finished 62/63 and 63/64 . 62/63 P17 W 6 D 1 L 10 not a great year - had a 14 week lay off due to bad weather from 1st Dec till March. Only got 8 results for 2nds and it was 4 wins /losses each. Sevens beat in 1st Round of Wigtown and Lanarkshire 7's 63/64 1sts Won/Lost 9 apiece , one game abandoned. 2nds only have 3 resuts all loses. 3rds no results but big fixture list. Sevens beat 1st round Lanarkshire. Not a lot of info in Motherwell Times a few games and no reports for both years. Well known face playing were George Barr , Willie Miller , Jock Magowan - Got an entry for him in 1959 , he was a nipper at 17 in 2nds. Len Cocozza , Les Arnott and others. Roddy Thomsons Dad , John to keep family connection going. There is also a Terry or Tommy Cotter , does anyone know if he is a relation to Rev Cotter from Dalserf ( he was a Patron of Club and if info is correct played for Scotland ). Willie Miller scoring a few from back row and wing.

If anyone saw photos that were up at HLM Lunch , then I am going to get them copied as have to return them to Brian Robertson at Festival. I can get copies made if anyone wants and will be cost price plus small profit for Club. Will let you know how much can get them done for. Have a look on Photo Gallery in years gone bye , there are a few clippings with photos . I have the digital copy and could get them done too so let me know if anyone interested. So have a look at our great club's history.

First time back at Heritage Centre in a while to get Dalziel history , life and becoming a grampa got in the way !!!!!!!!! Had a look at 1965 and quite fitting that first report of the year mentions Robin Austin as we celebrate his life in rugby at Dalziel tonight. Stalwarts of the club mentioned in despatches are George Barr , Willie Milller , Kenny Stewart , Les Arnott , Ian Young to name a few. Club had 8 weeks out due to weather jan /march . There is a club Photo that I will send out to older guys who feature in it Season 64 - 65.
Season 65 - 66 Dick McLatchie gets mentioned , think he'd just left school and was figuring in 1stXV. A young Billy Calder gets promising remarks figuring at fullback. From start of season till Dec the 1stXV never lost a game Plyd 14 W 13 D 1 ( Dalry) there was 4 weeks out due to weather. Some going. Will update individual games and link match reports soon. But keep having a look at our great history. GO DALZIEL

Guys have been updating more archive stuff. 68 - 69 put up all stuff found in Motherwell Times. Not many reports for 2nds 3rds . 1stXV P 21 W 12 L 9 Willie Miller gets joint top try scorer with 7 along with stand off G.Liveston and Jock Magowan just behind. Guys playing then were Trevor Crooks , Jock Magowan , Ronnie Cowan , Kenny Stewart , Jim Browning , Billy Calder , Len Cocozza who have all been up at club in last year. Also Brian Robertson who yearly brings NI Civil Service to festival. Some good results a big pumping of Cambuslang and honours even with Hamilton one apiece. 2nds with a good win at Ayr and what looked like a nail biter with Lanark W31 - 29 with Alex Gallagher getting 5 tries !!!!!!! Some action photos from Lanarkshire 7's . Have a look at our heritage and the guys who used to be where players are now striving to make this club better. Go DALZIEL

Guys , Have been doing some updating on site , adding Motherwell Times match reports to games for years 1966 up to end 1969. Have a look at results for each yea. November 66 put out 4XVs first time ever (I think). Same year up to Dec Plyd 15 W 11 D2 L2 so some going. Also beat Hamilton for first time in a while. Have a look at 7's for 69/70 Won Lanark , first 7's trophy since 1953 (Wigtownshire also year before) - also won Lanarkshire 7's and Wigtownshire plate. Names todays players would recognise playing were Willie Miller , Jock Magowan , Dick McLatchie , Kenny Stewart , George Barr and Brian Robertson ( who brings NI Civil Service ) over at festival. Recently got some club photos from Kenny Stewart - they are mostly from 50's . Will Post them soon. have a look at our history of such a great club. Go DALZIEL.
