Annan Front Row Goes Missing!!!

Post by scottiedug » Tue Apr 13, 2010 1:26 pm

Guys ,
I am sure we are all very disappointed that last w/e's cancellation by Annan has done Dalziel Players, Coaches and Supporters out of a possible Championship Winning last Home Game this coming Saturday.Of course in true Dalziel style we will take this on the chin and just get on with it!!!
I very much hope however that if Annan or the SRU come back and say how convenient it would be to play the Match on Saturday 8th May, that we will be pointing out that this would be entirely inconvenient for Dalziel, given that we have a Whole Club Involvement in Running over 900 players through Dalziel Park on that day!!!!! All hands are required on Deck
Is it a possibility that the Border League will keep Annan busy til' end May or early June???

We have written to the SRU/Championship Committee, et al stating exactly these points - amongst others.

the 2nds are due to play Melrose away on the 8th of May. I've spoken with Davie to try to rearrange this.

couple of interesting articles...

whitecraigs say this:
The game v Annan on Saturday is off as Annan cannot raise a team. The team photograph will now take place pre the dinner at 6.00pm. I will be consulting the Championship Committee tomorrow as to how this is going to be resolved.

while Annan say this:
Stop Press: By mutual agreement between Annan RFC, Whitecraigs RFC and the SRU Annan's fixture against Whitecraigs, scheduled for Saturday, does not now need to be played.

As this result would not affect promotion or relegation I can see why it may not require to be played ,albeit ..........

very annoying for the Whitecraigs Chaps (Tee-Hee)!!!!!!!!

Whitecraigs are livid as they did not agree to the game being cancelled, they are loosing out on revenue from their final home match lunch etc.
Check out their website for their reaction to Annan's comments on their own site.

I think Annan will be punished (although I have not seen the outcome of our complaint when the game against is was called off).

I don't think, even if both clubs agree, that the SRU could award the points to Whitecrauigs and will demand the game is played as there is no scope for this in the Championship Rules..........yes Annan will be docked meaningless points but the SRU shouldl demand the game to be played.

Its a shame for Whitecraigs as they had a day planned but thats life!!
